Series; The Thirty-six Outstanding Poems

Ichikawa Kodanji IV as Ishikawa Goemon, 1857 - Lively scene of Ichikawa Kodanji IV as the robber Ishikawa Goemon, fighting off several guards at once as he attempts to escape. The men use bamboo ladders and pole arms to attack him. He steps atop the back of one fallen guard as he brandishes his sword overhead and grabs a ladder to push it away, biting his lower lip in determination. Another fellow has tumbled onto his back, sprawling on the ground with legs kicking, still holding onto his ladder. A striking and atmospheric design with the figures set against a dark night sky. Detailed with embossing in Goemon's white loincloth.
