Street Knight with an Umbrella

Comments - Great kabuki portrait of a young otokodate or street knight carrying a Western-style umbrella, looking up over his shoulder with a wary frown. He wears a fascinating kimono patterned with a shirtless man gripping a rope that has changed into a dragon at one end, beneath a light blue robe with pine trees above and splashing waves below. Nicely detailed with fine line work in the hair and soft pink shading around the eyes. A handsome composition.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 3/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
