Otokodate with a Demon Kimono

Comments - Handsome kabuki portrait of an otokodate or street knight out for a stroll, carrying a brown Western-style umbrella over his shoulder. He wears a striking kimono with a bold design of a shrieking green demon clutching a huge sack over its shoulder as jagged bolts of red lightening flash across the dark night sky. The fellow looks ahead with an angry scowl, his hair is cropped short in the modern Meiji style. A nice image set off by the vibrant red background.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 9 3/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
