Beauty on a Moonlit Night, 1847 - 1852

Comments - Charming scene of a beauty on a verandah, enjoying the cool evening air. She smiles as she looks up, admiring the large crescent moon glowing in the night sky. She wears a blue kimono patterned with large floral medallions and holds an uchiwa or flat fan. The river is crowded with pleasure boats, and on the opposite shore, lighted windows glow softly in the darkly silhouetted buildings. A classic summer subject.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 9 3/4" + left margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Paper strip on reverse at top edge from previous mounting. A few holes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
