Magic Foxes Drinking Party, 1846 - Fantastic scene depicting magic foxes who have shape-shifted into humans to enjoy a drinking party in the countryside. One man dances about with sake bottles while another waves a votive plaques and a third drums on an overturned wooden bucket. At top left, a beauty is changing back into a fox while two other foxes fish from fishing baskets. The silhouettes of people walking along with red paper lanterns can be seen in the distance. Terrific detail in this imaginative and fascinating print.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 19 3/8"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels. Paper strips on reverse at edges from previous mounting. A few wormholes and small holes, most repaired. Toning, soiling, and wrinkling, slight rubbing, pigment added to a few figures. Please see photos for details.
