Captain Asakawa at Port Arthur, 1895

Comments - Dramatic scene from the Sino-Japanese War of Cavalry Scout Captain Asakawa at Port Arthur, heroically facing a group of Chinese cavalrymen, waving his sword high above his head as they aim guns at him. His horse lies wounded at his side, with an enemy prostrate on the ground before him. Clouds of smoke drift across the scene, and the building behind him at left has been shattered under shelling. A handsome composition, beautifully detailed with burnishing in the trim on the black uniform and the black horse blanket.

Image Size - 13 3/4" x 28" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Slight toning, a few spots, a few creases at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
