Panoramic View of the Seaside from the Inn at Eguchi, 1860

Comments - Terrific triptych depicting Mitsuuji, the Country Genji, and several beauties relaxing on the terrace of a seaside inn at Eguchi. The young nobleman leans against a lacquer armrest, holding a cup of sake and smiling at the woman sitting at right. A low table holds blue and white porcelain dishes piled with delicacies, with a kettle on the floor nearby. At left, a young girl holds her fishing pole over the railing as the beauties beside her chat. A few ships are anchored in the harbor at left, with sails dotting the horizon as boats return home for the evening as the sun sets. A beautiful subject, attractively colored and detailed.
