Kato Kiyomasa Hunting Tigers, 1887

Comments - Handsome scene of the great warrior Kato Kiyomasa and his men hunting tigers in Korea. Kiyomasa surveys the operation from atop a rocky cliff with his spear in hand, watching intently. On the slope behind him, two tigers snarl as a spear point is thrust at them. The horizon glows deep red as the sun sets, tall stalks of leafy bamboo frame the scene. An attractive design with fine bokashi shading in the background and touches of burnishing in the armor.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14" x 9 1/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Backed with paper. Thinned spot, slight toning and soiling, slight rubbing. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
