Okatsu of the Obana Clan, 1887 - Beautiful portrait of the lovely young Okatsu, a member of the Obana clan, who was the mistress of an officer. She is shown combing her hair with a tortoiseshell comb, smiling happily as she looks over her shoulder. She wears a blue tie-dyed robe trimmed in striped olive fabric, over a red under robe with a floral patterned collar. Her hair is pulled back into a large smooth bun, tied with a cloth bow, a few loose wisps framing her face. A lantern casts a shaft of light across the dark background. A lovely portrait of a beauty caught in a casual moment, with fine line work in the hair and embossing in the white and purple striped kimono collar dotted with blossoms.
