Courtesan in a Doorway

Comments - Beautiful aizuri-e or primarily blue print of a courtesan standing in the doorway of a room in a teahouse, holding a wooden upright with her sleeve, a roll of tissues in her mouth. She wears a faint pink kimono with an embossed scroll and leaf pattern, bordered with a gourd and vine print. Her hair is pulled back into two loops, adorned with tortoiseshell combs and floral hairpins. A pair of sandals rest on floor of the hall, and a brazier, a covered cup, and pipe can be seen inside. A striking Edo beauty design in the rare aizuri-e format.
