Series; Women's Activities of the Tokugawa Era

Flower Cart - Beautiful scene of young women admiring a flower cart holding an elaborate arrangement of peonies, chrysanthemums, maple leaves, and a blossoming cherry branch. One beauty kneels beside the cart, adjusting a sash of red fabric draped around the woven container. The woman at right holds a young child, who reaches eagerly toward the colorful display. A charming design with wonderful color and intricate detail in the sumptuous kimono fabrics. Nicely detailed with embossing in the white kimono trim and burnishing in the black robe and cart wheels.

Artist - Chikanobu (1838 - 1912)

Image Size - 14" x 27 7/8" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Three separate panels. Vertical fold in left panel. Slight paper remnants on reverse from previous backing. Thinning at edge, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, ink offsetting, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
