Attacking a Beauty Playing Koto, 1866

Comments - Dramatic kabuki scene of a samurai attacking a beauty playing the koto, drawing his sword as she recoils in fright. The samurai is elegantly dressed in a green kimono tucked into blue hakama pants patterned with flowers and bird with outstretched wings. At lower left, a man tumbles forward off the platform, his legs kicking in the air. An interesting subject with expressive figures.

Image Size - 13 7/8" x 19 1/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels. Slight paper remnants on reverse from previous backing. A few wormholes, repaired. Slight creasing and soiling, a few stains, ink offsetting. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
