Comments - Terrific scene of Imperial Army troops returning in triumph at the end of the Sino-Japanese War. Officers on horseback make their way through a triumphal arch decorated with greenery and Japanese flags as they parade through the city. A military band lines the street at right, with a crowd of cheering citizens behind them. Strings of red paper lanterns and fluttering flags add to the festive air of the celebration. A handsome depiction of this historic event, also in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
