Empress and Court Ladies Enjoying the Autumn Foliage, 1879

Comments - Charming illustration of the Meiji Empress and the ladies of her court viewing the autumn foliage. In the center, the empress holds a folding fan, smiling over her shoulder at the emperor, who is approaching at left. The beauties wear beautiful kimono over white robes tucked into red hakama pants. A waterfall rushes into the pond at left, and two ducks can be seen swimming at right. The maple trees are covered with colorful red and green leaves. At attractive design, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 28 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three attached panels. A few holes, V-shaped tear, repaired. Slight soiling and creasing, a few stains. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
