Lucky Gods Ebisu and Hotei

Comments - Charming scene of two of Japan's famous Seven Lucky Gods enjoying some sake and fish. At left, Ebisu happily as he pours sake into Hotei's large red lacquer cup. Hotei grins back at him, rubbing his head with his free hand. His gray robe hangs open to the waist, revealing his large belly, and leans against his large cloth bag filled with never-ending treasures. Ebisu's red snapper or sea bream lies on a platter on the floor between them. The screen behind them features a scene from the legend of Urashima Taro, a fisherman who rescues a turtle and is rewarded with a visit to the Dragon King's palace under the sea. An interesting and cheerful design, nicely detailed.
