Comments - Fantastic kabuki scene from the dance drama "Tsuchi Gumo," the Earth Spider," which tells how the Minamoto warrior Raiko fell ill and dreamed that a ground spider was preparing to cast a web over him. Here, the spirit of the ground spider appears in the center, raising a lacquered pole above his head to strike the young samurai before him. He wears an under robe patterned with a colorful stylized spider web, and a giant spider web radiates from behind his head across the scene. The young samurai looks at him in alarm, drawing his sword as a Raiko watches from the right. The actor in the left panel is At left, Ichikawa Sadanji as Hirai Yasumasa. A fantastic image with vibrant color and pattern, and wonderful detail in the flowing hairstyles and expressive faces. A great choice for a kabuki enthusiast.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Small loss at edge, a few small holes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few light creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
