Spring Stroll

Comments - Lovely Edo era design of beauties on a stroll through the countryside, pausing for a rest beside a rushing stream. One of the young women kneels along the shore, gesturing at the water, smiling up at her companions. The beauty in the center admires the blossoming cherry tree at left. The woman at right wears a striped kimono tied with an obi featuring medallions and leafy vines, and she carries an umbrella. Tiny figures make their way along the hillside in the distance, enjoying the view. A charming design, beautifully drawn with graceful line work and fine detail, including embossing in the cherry blossoms.

Artist - Shunman (1757 - 1820)
