Hiroshige's Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji - In Japan, Mt. Fuji is a sacred place and a symbol of the country itself. Hiroshige’s wonderful Fuji series shows the mountain in all seasons and from various vantage points. From the urban city center of Edo to small village cherry blossom viewing to the fantastic crashing wave at Awa, Fuji always appears serene and unmoved, despite the beauty and activity around. This Reprint Edition - The Goto Association for Preserving Ukiyo-e commissioned the Adachi Publisher to create this beautiful reprint edition of Hiroshige's "Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji." In an effort to revive and preserve the traditional artistry of Japanese woodblock prints, they hired the most skilled artisans and used handmade paper and vegetable pigments. Ichibei Iwano, a Japanese Living National Treasure, made the Echizen-hosho paper, Hambei Okura carved selected cherry wood blocks, and Katomro Murata printed the designs, under the supervision of publisher Toyohisa Adachi. Each print bears the Adachi Publisher seal on the reverse. A wonderful opportunity to collect a classic Hiroshige subject, beautifully reprinted

Beautifully embellished and colored with a floral motif and an image of Fuji in the fan above, the fan ribs delicately embossed. An attractive design and a nice complement to the prints from this series.
