Shogun's Inspection of Ammunition Explosions Over Water - From one of the gate towers of Edo castle, the shogun and his advisers observe the testing of noroshi or signal fires in nearby Edo Bay. The intricately detailed tile roof of the tower is topped with ceramic ornaments in the shape of fishes. The circular inset shows the launch tower for the explosives, with a paper lantern bearing the inscription "official use." A terrific composition and a fascinating subject.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. A few small holes, repaired. Slight soiling. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
