Beauty with Fan and Insect Cage Kakemono

Comments - Lovely kakemono or vertical diptych of a beauty enjoying a summer stroll, carrying an insect cage and biting the edge of her round fan. She smiles happily as she looks ahead, her hair pulled back into a smooth bun with a few loose wisps framing her face. Her kimono features large floral medallions in deep blue and brown, tied with a brown green obi that reverses to a blue-gray print. Interestingly, the fan features a design of sparrows in flight, with the signature of the artist Yoshitsuna. An attractive design with fine detail in the hair and soft shading in the background. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts has this image in its collection.

Artist - Kuniyoshi (1797 - 1861)

Image Size - 26 1/8" x 8 3/4" + margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Two separate panels. Separation along crease, a few wormholes and small holes, most repaired. Slight toning and soiling, a few creases, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
