Standing in the Snow

Comments - Great 18th century kabuki portrait of a man standing in a snowy courtyard, staring over his shoulder with an enraged expression, his chin resting atop his hand. He wears a white vest over a bamboo print kimono, a black court cap tied under his chin with tasseled cords. The three concentric rice measure crest of the Ichikawa Danjuro line of actors appears on his sleeve at left. Snow is piled along of the garden fence behind him beneath a gray wintry sky. A handsome expressive figure, nicely detailed.
