Wrestling Buffs at the Ekoin, South Ryogoku; The Cowardice of a Worldly Monk at Yanagiwara - Nice uncut page featuring two chuban designs from Yoshitoshi's amusing series depicting life in Meiji era Tokyo. The top scene shows sumo wrestling fans getting a little out of control, shouting and flinging clothing at the ring below. At lower right, a startled young boy cries, wiping his eyes with his hands. Below, a geisha coyly grabs the robe of a worldly monk out strolling along the riverbank at night. He leaps up in fright, shouting at the beauty as he scrambles to get away. Her two friends laugh as they watch his reaction. Nicely detailed with burnishing in the bottom image.
