Original Kuroki Sadao (1908 - 1984) Japanese Woodblock Print
Lower Mountain Slope, 1961

Tokyo Contemporary Collection - This print is from a large group of contemporary prints we recently purchased in Tokyo. With designs from a range of artists, including some famous and rare designs, this is the largest group of contemporary Japanese prints we have ever offered.

Comments - Great sosaku hanga design of waterfalls rushing over the lower slope of a mountain. The water cascades down the rocky cliff, the blue and white contrasting strongly with the bold dark shapes of the landscape. A handsome design by Kuroki Sadao, who studied woodblock printing with modern master Un'ichi Hiratsuka and was a member of Nihon Hanga Kyokai.

Artist - Kuroki Sadao (1908 - 1984)

Image Size - 6 5/8" x 9" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse along top edge from previous mounting. Pencil notation on reverse. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
