Attacking a Beauty

Comments - Dramatic kabuki scene of a man attacking a beauty, grabbing her by the collar and pulling her off balance as he raises a short sword high above his head. The woman frightened woman looses her lantern as she falls, her eyes wide with fear. At left, a young man holds up a small parcel wrapped in cloth, examining it against the night sky. At right, a youth holds a stack of money wrapped in paper as he looks over his shoulder with an unhappy frown. Another fellow crouches next to him, wearing an unusual leopard skin vest over a plaid kimono. Great expressive figures with fine line work in the hair and clothing.
