Shaping Cotton, circa 1843 - Attractive scene of a woman shaping cotton, gently stretching the battle over a smooth lacquer form. She smiles as she looks down, concentrating on her work, an unshaped piece of cotton over her shoulder. Other pieces hang from a line overhead, while completed batting is tied into soft rolls and arranged on the floor behind her. A charming look at the everyday activities of women, from a rarely seen Kuniyoshi beauty series.
