Series; Allusions to the Seven Stars, 1878

Cascading Water - Attractive portrait of two Imperial Court beauties, each wearing an intricately patterned kimono tucked into full red hakama pants. The seated woman holds a round fan, looking over her shoulder with an interested expression the breeze blowing the tassel attached to her fan. Her companion is busy fastening a narrow sash around her waist, stretching out with both hands. Each has very finely detailed long hair pulled into a ponytail reaching to the floor. The background features a waterfall cascading over a cliff, with spray splashing off rocky projects at the sides of the water's flow. An interesting subject from a rarely seen beauty series by Yoshitoshi.
