Comments - Lovely modern portrait of a kneeling maiko, looking up with a faint smile as she holds her kimono sleeve to her chin. Her softly shaded light blue kimono features maples leaves and pink bridge railings, tied with a red obi with a large floral motif. The background features willow branches with dustings of metallic gold pigment, creating an interesting effect. The bold black outlines of the figure are also distinctive. An intriguing image. Hashimoto Meiji received the Order of Cultural Merit from the Japanese Government in 1974. A great subject for a modern collector.
