Comments - Charming portrait of a Kyoto maiko or apprentice geisha. She wears a soft green and peach kimono with a diamond pattern and white blossoms, tied with a black obi decorated with leaves and a red and gold mica sash. Clusters of flowers adorn her hair, and she has exceptionally long eyelashes. A textured gold mica background sets off the figure nicely. A very painterly modern design the female artist Hisako Kajiwara, who received many awards in Japan for her intriguing beauty portraits.

Artist - Hisako Kajiwara (1896 - 1988)

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 10 5/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Paper remnants on reverse at top corners and left edge from previous mounting, a few creases at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
