Winter Day on a Verandah, 1855

Comments - Interesting scene of a beauty and two men enjoying a winter day on a verandah. The man at left relaxes against the railing, smiling happily as he looks up at the beauty. She grins back at him as she takes a toothpick from her mouth. Their companion sits at right holding a cup of sake and scowling unhappily. A meal cooks on a pan over a brazier at his feet, and a dish of food is set on a black lacquer tray nearby. The room overlooks a lovely snow-covered garden with a pond in the center, and a snowman shaped like Daruma at left. A charming design with wonderful detail in the setting.
