Ueno Park at Night, 1895 - Fantastic view of Ueno Park at night, illuminated by an electric street lamp at left, which casts a shaft of light across an open plaza. The beauty in the center gestures with her hand as she waits for a girl to catch up with her. She wears a gray kimono patterned with feathered shuttlecocks, trimmed in violet with a green and white print lining. The girl hurries along holding the edge of her rabbit print obi as she runs, the red orange of the obi oxidized to a darker tone. At left, a beauty walks a dog on a leash, while beneath a tree, a man sitting on a bench lights his pipe from his friend's. A mother and daughter stroll across the center, and other figures make their way about the well-lighted space. Trees are silhouetted in gray against the sky, and a torii gate can be seen in the distance. Beautifully shaded with subtle gradations of gray, enlivened with the colorful fabrics of the two main figures. Includes embossing in the white cherry blossoms framing the scene at upper left. A lovely design by Chikanobu we've only offered once before.

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels. Slight soiling, a few small spots, faint ink offsetting, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
