The Hour of the Monkey: Teahouse

Series; Clock of the Customs of Beauties

The Hour of the Monkey: Teahouse - Handsome scene of two women from a series depicting the customs of beauties at various times of the day. The Hour of the Monkey corresponds to the time from 4 to 6 pm, and the beauties are relaxing before the evening's work. The standing beauty giggles into her kimono sleeve as her companion pokes at her coral colored obi, an uchiwa or flat fan patterned with delicate grasses and pink flowers in her other hand. She wears an informal pink and white plaid kimono, and her hair is elegantly arranged with a large comb, ribbons, and two hairpins. A charming subject from a series rarely seen, nicely detailed with embossing in the fan.
