Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Actor Portraits on Fans

Comments - Interesting print featuring four kabuki portraits of two different actors in fan-shaped insets. The top row shows Ichikawa Ebizo V as Jirozaemon at right, smoking a pipe in an iris garden, and Iwai Kumesaburo III at left as the beauty Yatsuhashi. The bottom row depicts Iwai Kumesaburo III at right as the nobleman Ariwara no Narihara, one of the Six Poetry Immortals, and Ichikawa Ebizo V at left as the angry warrior Ikaruga. A handsome print with nice detail in an unusual format.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 9 5/8" x 14"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Partially backed with paper. Vertical centerfold. A few holes, repaired. Creasing, soiling, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
