Seki Sanjuro III as Kyuemon, 1861

Comments - Interesting kabuki portrait of Seki Sanjuro III as Kyuemon, glaring at a companion angrily, hiding a sword behind his back. He wears a brown kimono bordered with a gray geometric pattern over a red under robe, a white cloth knotted about his neck. At left, a sake kettle rests on the floor beside a red lacquer tray holding cups. An expressive figure in a nicely detailed interior setting.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14" x 9 1/2" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Thinning at corner, a few small hole, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, rubbing at edges, a few creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
