Celebrating Tanabata Festival, 1855 - Terrific image depicting a scene from the Tanabata Festival in July. A young boy leans over an enormous ceramic basin filled with swimming goldfish, the koi bobbing to the surface as he scatters food over the water. The side of the basin is decorated with a beautiful seascape. Prince Genji stands at right, smiling happily as he watches, while the beauty at left dries the side of her face with the sleeve of her cotton kimono. A woman on the far left carries a tray and another kneeling operates a crank fan. A floral ornament called a kusudama hangs overhead, with long ribbons trailing from it. A charming design with wonderful detail in the setting.
