Horse and Foal by Sonan Noda (active mid-20th century)

Original 20th century Japanese Woodblock Print
Horse and Foal

Comments - Sonan Noda was a Kyoto artist who specialized in stylized images of horses with a very recognizable linear style. Here, he uses the color of the paper to create a negative line against a black ground. A nice image of two horses, a mare gently nuzzling the side of her reclining foal. A charming woodblock print, published by Kyoto Hanga-in.

Artist - Sonan Noda (active mid-20th century)

Image Size - 10 5/8" x 15 3/8" + margins as shown

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Slight paper remnants on reverse at top corners from previous mounting, a few light creases, slight soiling at edges, pencil notation on reverse. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
