Original Meiji era Japanese Woodblock Print
Japanese Attacking a Chinese Fortress

Comments - Lively illustration from the Sino-Japanese War of Japanese troops attacking a Chinese fortress. At left, soldiers run ahead gripping their guns like clubs as they encounter the enemy, an officer on horseback leading the charge behind them. A row of men fires upon the Chinese, while at right, cannon launch powerful shots at the castle walls, the shells streaking across the sky leaving red trails. On the hillside at right, another officer rallies his men by waving his sword high. A dramatic design.
