Sukenari (Juro) and Tokimune (Goro) with Their Mother - Charming scene of the Soga Brothers entertaining their elderly mother with song and dance before they leave to accomplish their vendetta. Juro plays a flute while Goro dances, striking a pose and holding his fan out with a fierce grin. Their mother kneels behind them holding a shallow red cup of sake, an offering tray piled with sweets nearby. Her face looks careworn, and her long hair is combed straight over her shoulders. An interesting subject from this classic tale, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
