Original Toshi Yoshida (1911 - 1995) Japanese Woodblock Print
No. 1, 1952

From a Tokyo Contemporary Collection

Toshi Yoshida's Abstract Prints - After the death of his father in 1950, Toshi Yoshida began a period of experimentation with abstract woodblock print designs. These works feature bold, abstract shapes and lines, complemented by sophisticated color and wonderful textures. Toshi Yoshida created nearly 300 abstract prints, the majority of these from the mid-1950s through the 1960s, many of them published in small, limited editions. These dramatic prints have a distinctly modern, graphic appeal, and show another side of Toshi's amazing creativity. A fantastic choice for the collector interested in modern woodblocks, each print is hand signed, dated, and titled.

Tokyo Contemporary Collection - This print is from a large group of contemporary prints we recently purchased in Tokyo. With designs from a range of artists, including some famous and rare designs, this is the largest group of contemporary Japanese prints we have ever offered.
