Comments - Interesting triptych depicting a princess watching women processing cotton. She stands in the center wearing an elegant red kimono, smiling as she observes them at work. At right, a seated woman runs cotton through a set of rollers to remove the seeds, while a beauty stretches the fibers into floss over a rounded lacquer form. In the center, a woman sews a kimono, while her companion at left uses a wheel to spin the cotton into thread. At upper left, a woman with a comb slipping loose from her hair weaves at a loom, a shuttle in one hand. Cherry blossoms frame a view of a lake and gardens beyond, providing an attractive setting. A wonderfully detailed image of a rarely seen subject, with embossing in the pale pink kimono and the white kimono trim, and burnishing in the black collar.
