Original Yoshimori (1830 - 1884) Japanese Woodblock Print
Comic Characters

Comments - Very unusual comic woodblock featuring a variety of strange characters and behaviors. At upper left, a man appears to be caught in the nostril of a giant face, his legs emerging from the eye above. At right, a man busily tends a cooking pot with a miniature beauty in it as smoke pours from the coals below. At bottom center, a woman with a daikon radish for a head plays a shamisen while the fellow at right points at her with a long tongue lolling from his mouth, scratching his head in a puzzled manner. A wildly imaginative and interesting design.

Artist - Yoshimori (1830 - 1884)

Image Size - 12 5/8" x 9" + margins as shown
