Actors Offstage

Comments - Terrific image depicting kabuki actors offstage, enjoying a stroll among notice boards protected by angled blue and white checked roofs. They are informally dressed, the men wearing coats over print cotton kimono patterned with a variety of crests in tan and blue. The beauty in the center wears a coat bordered with iris blossoms over a blue and white iris motif kimono. One of the structures covers a row of cylindrical paper lanterns with writing on them, and a low fence surrounds the plants and foliage alongside the signs. The left panel includes Ichimura Uzaemon XII and Sawamura Sojuro V. The center panel features Ichikawa Danjuro VII and Iwai Hanshiro VII. The right panel depicts Nakamura Utaemon IV and Arashi Kichisaburo III. An intriguing subject with expressive figures and wonderful detail.

Image Size - 14 1/4" x 29 3/4"
