Original Kunisada II (1823 - 1880) Japanese Woodblock Print
Minoya Koman Kakemono, 1867

Comments - Attractive kakemono or vertical diptych of the beauty Koman of Minoya. She smiles happily as she looks over her shoulder, drying the side of her face with a towel. She wears a blue and white cotton kimono with a bold leaf pattern over a red under robe, a red striped obi wrapped loosely around her waist. The landscape behind depicts a full moon over the water, with birds in flight above the far shore and a pleasure boat moving across the bay. A charming design, nicely colored and detailed with fine line work in the hair and faint cloth embossing in the background of the landscape.

Artist - Kunisada II (1823 - 1880)

Image Size - 9" x 27 3/4"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Two separate panels. Thinning area at upper right of top panel, a few small thinning spots and holes, repaired. Slight toning and soiling, ink offsetting. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
