Beautiful Women Returning from the Bath on a Spring Night, 1843 - 1847

Comments - Fantastic triptych of young beauties returning home from the bath on a spring evening. The woman at left carries a large paper lantern swinging from a stick, the light flooding across the scene and illuminating two dogs fighting ferociously in the center. The silhouettes of people on the busy street behind them forms an intriguing backdrop. A terrific scene with masterful shading and handling of the effect of light. A great subject, also in the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - 14 1/8" x 29 1/4" + top margin as shown

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Three separate panels, backed with paper. Losses at corners, a few wormholes, tear at edge, repaired. Soiling, slight rubbing, a few pencil [?] and pink marks in center panel. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
