Serving a Meal

Series; Thirty-six Modern Restaurants, 1878

Serving a Meal - Handsome scene of a restaurant interior with a waitress kneeling on the floor, ready to serve the meals laid out on black lacquer trays. Behind her, a young girl gestures excitedly to the standing beauty, who seems to be admonishing her with a folded fan. An open shoji window leads to a courtyard with a landing dock on the river, the entrance covered by a small roofed gateway. A glimpse of cherry blossoms frames the view beyond. A charming subject, nicely detailed with lively color.

Artist - Kunichika (1835 - 1900)

Image Size - 9" x 13 3/8"

Condition - With excellent color and detail. Backed with old paper. Some light toning and soiling. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
