Lingering Snow of Shimomura, 1806 - Attractive scene of two beauties in their leisure time. The woman at right kneels next to hand mirror on a stand and a lacquer chest with makeup and brushes scattered about the top of it. She wears a black kimono patterned with cherry blossoms and tie-dyed circular motifs, tied with a pink chrysanthemum print obi. She holds a towel in one hand, pausing to chat with the beauty behind her, who carries a small box or book tied with a ribbon. Beautifully drawn with graceful line work. A handsome Edo era beauty subject.
