Series; Old Customs of the East

Moon Viewing, 1895 - Lovely image of two beauties and a young girl viewing the moon on an autumn night. In the center, a woman relaxes on a bench with a fan in her hand, wearing a purple kimono bordered with blossoms and water and tied with a geometric print obi, a small purse tucked in the fold of her robe. The child smiles happily as she looks up, carrying her own fan. Misty clouds drift before the full moon, and the silhouettes of autumn grasses, rooftops, and a mountain can be seen against the evening sky. An attractive image, beautifully detailed with embossing in the white kimono trim and fan, and fine bokashi shading in the background.
