Beauties and a Guest in a Teahouse

Comments - Lovely scene of beauties entertaining a guest in a teahouse. A man kneeling atop a bed holds out a sake cup as the geisha beside him leans over to chat, a brazier filled with red coals on the floor before her. At upper left, a beauty holds a roll of folded tissues as she holds closed her green outer kimono patterned with yellow waves. A courtesan stands at right, dressed in a pink kimono trimmed with green and tied with a black obi featuring swirling clouds and red circles. The room and furnishings are beautifully detailed, with a painting of birds in flight hanging on the wall above, a hanging scroll at left, and a robe with a great dragon and clouds design at lower right. A classic Edo era beauty subject, drawn with graceful flowing lines.
