Comments - Intriguing scene of the young Minamoto no Tametomo unleashing his famous temper on several ladies-in-waiting. The women were tossing cherry blossoms at him during his betrothal to Princess Shiranui, and he became very angry at their behavior. Here, he raises his fan, knocking a flowering branch from the hand of the beauty kneeling before him. At left, another woman sprawls on the floor, having been pushed aside. The lovely princess watches solemnly at left, while another samurai eavesdrops behind a sliding panel of reed blinds at right. The room overlooks a lovely pond and garden, framing by cherry trees. An interesting depiction of this legendary event.
