Original Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864) Japanese Woodblock Print
Narai: Onoe Tamizo II

Series; The Sixty-nine Stations of the Kisokaido, 1852

Narai: Onoe Tamizo II - Terrific image from Toyokuni III's only Kisokaido series, featuring bust-length actor portraits in front of landscapes of the various stations. Here, the actor Onoe Tamizo II carries a robe over his shoulders, a sober expression on his face. He wears a plaid kimono trimmed with black over a beautifully detailed red robe with a portrait of a deity on the sleeve. At upper left, a torii gate draped with sacred shimenawa ropes is surrounded by trees, with mountains looming in the distance. A fine kabuki portrait with soft shading in the background.

Artist - Toyokuni III/Kunisada (1786 - 1864)

Image Size - Approximately 14" x 9 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Faint vertical center fold. A few small holes repaired from reverse. Please see photos for details. Nice overall.
