Series; Thirty-six Views of the Pride of Edo, 1864

Nihonbashi, 1864 - Attractive design form a series jointly designed by Toyokuni III and Hiroshige II featuring famous locations in Edo. In the foreground, a woman holds a bonito fish while a boy runs past her rolling a hoop, the child grinning back at her. A cloud-like border separates the figures from a view of the busy Nihonbashi, the bridge crowded with pedestrians. Warehouses line the opposite bank of the river with the rooftops of the city stretching out into the distance. The snow-covered peak of Mt. Fuji rises high above mountains. A handsome design from a rarely seen series.
